This course aims to give students professional specific education, special view, knowledge and tools that artistic directors should have in contemporary performance making. The course equips students with both the practical skills and the theoretical knowledge necessary to be a professional director and create one’s own performances.

The key learning objective of the program focuses on theoretical and practical tasks to help students explore:

  • how to read and analyze a play, how to formulate a plot and super-objective of the performance;

  • what theatre director should know to be prepared for the first meeting with actors;

  • how to lead actors from first meeting to performance;

  • how to work with your colleagues in theatre (composer, stage designer, others);

  • what tools should directors have to prepare actor for role;

  • how to choose and apply method of rehearsing and technique of acting;

  • postproduction of performance.

As in all NIPAI programs, the 18-month course emphasizes hands-on learning. Theatre Directing classes are not theoretical explorations; they are practical workshops designed to put students in the director's chair as quickly as possible.

The curriculum of the Theatre Directing Online Course is composed of various subjects that are systematized in 3 semesters, 6 modules and study project. Two semesters include 6 modules and the third semester is devoted to Study Project development. 

The program curriculum is brought to life through an engaging mix of live interactive projects, digital resources, online collaboration with fellow learners, professors and tutors and independent development of your graduation performance with the guidance of the faculty best mentors. 
 

Prospective students are provided with detailed information regarding the content and schedule of each seminar.

 

Offering impressive learning flexibility, this program is ideal for ambitious professionals who travel for work, cannot attend campus or are looking to balance work and study to apply their learnings in real-time.

Distant learning is provided through an online platform and can be attended from around the world. 

Current Online students are studying remotely all over the world, including Malta, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Zimbabwe, South Africa, Nigeria and the UK.

Study Project is carried out by student independently in organization or a theatre group under guidance of our best mentors.

What does it mean?

Every student of Theatre Directing Diploma Course will complete their own Study Project - Graduation Performance in the theatre organization, working with actors and the crew.

All students pursuing a Diploma Course at The New International Performing Arts Institute must be proficient in English and earn a bachelor's degree (at a minimum) or an acceptable equivalent. Applicants must also submit a Creative Portfolio, more details in Entry Requirements see here.
