About Csurgó

The history of Csurgó dates back to the founding of the Hungarian state. According to tradition, the town's first documented mention appears in the 1019 founding charter of the Zalavár Abbey, where it was listed among the settlements granted the right to hold fairs. This early privilege indicates that Csurgó already played a central role in the region at that time.

Csurgó's charm lies in its beautiful, historic buildings. The town's natural environment is equally captivating, with the nearby Danube-Drava National Park offering endless opportunities for exploration and inspiration.

As the cultural and commercial center of Csurgó, the town's core area offers easy access to all the necessary amenities for our residency participants, including cafes, shops, parks, museums, accommodations, fitness facilities, and a swimming pool.

Getting Here

By Train

To get to Csurgó by train, check the schedules on the MAV website. There are several train stations in Budapest. The easiest option is to take the direct IC 826 SOMOGY train from Budapest-Keleti, which departs at 16:45 and takes 3.5 hours. You can buy tickets on the MAV website.

If the direct train is full, you can take a train from Budapest-Déli to Nagykanizsa, then change to a train heading towards Dombóvár and get off at Csurgó. Another option is to take the 204 train from Budapest-Déli to Gyékényes, and then take a short 10-minute train from there to Csurgó.

By Car

Driving from Budapest to Csurgó takes about 2.5 hours. You can buy a vignette (toll pass) online or at any gas station in Hungary. The minimum vignette is valid for 10 days and costs about 10 EUR.
