"Georgian dances"
Laubegg Castle, Austria - December 20, 2025

Have you ever wondered what 21 years of dedication looks like? Our recent conference gave us the answer, and it was breathtaking.
Melita Lomadze brought centuries of Georgian culture to life through movement - from the fierce warrior spirit of Khorumi to the elegant grace of Kartuli, Georgia’s crown jewel of romantic dance. What struck us most? Her journey from figure skater at age 4 to training at the legendary Sukhishvili studio, and later founding Melita Dance Studio and her own ensemble, MELITASSY.
Here’s what we learned: Georgian folk choreography isn’t just dance - it’s storytelling through motion. Each region carries its own rhythm, posture, and energy. In the workshop, we explored not only Khorumi and Kartuli, but also vibrant regional forms like Adjaruli and Rachuli - each with its own character and physical logic.
The highlight? Watching participants discover how Georgian dance principles can feed into their own stage and rehearsal work.
