First Digital Presence Lab for Performing Artists Tests “Digital Strategy Through the Body” in Berlin

From 17 to 20 August 2026, NIPAI held the first edition of the Digital Presence Lab for Performing Artists in Berlin, introducing and testing the new educational method Digital Strategy Through the Body.

The method was developed by Kseniia Lohvyniuk specifically for performing artists and is based on a simple question: if actors, dancers, directors, choreographers and other performers understand and create through the body, why should digital strategy be taught only through theory and work behind a screen?

For the first time, the method was tested in a real studio environment with a group of performing artists. Participants worked with their own artistic identity, professional goals, online profiles, visual communication, movement, observation and practical content creation. For NIPAI, the laboratory was also an important research process: some ideas were confirmed in practice, while others became clearer only through the participants’ responses and work in the room.

The results and participant feedback are now being used to refine the methodology before the next edition.

Digital presence without becoming a “content machine”

The Lab is designed for performing artists who want to understand why they personally need an online presence, what they want it to do for them, and how digital platforms can support their professional and personal goals.

It is not built around the idea that every artist should become an influencer, produce content constantly, or pursue large follower numbers.

In marketing language, part of this work is often called positioning. At NIPAI, we approach it more simply: clarity between who you are now, where you want to go, and what people see when they encounter you online.

That clarity is only one part of the Lab.

The work also addresses questions that repeatedly stop performing artists from becoming visible online: What should I show? What is relevant? How much of myself should be public? What if I do not know what to post? How can my online presence remain connected to my actual artistic practice?

Our starting point is that artists usually already carry many of these answers within their practice. They know what matters to them, what they want to say, how they want to work and what kind of professional life they want to build. The task is often to give that knowledge a clearer form.

The Digital Presence Lab creates a practical process for doing exactly that.

The next Digital Presence Lab for Performing Artists will take place in Berlin from 8 to 11 January 2027.
