PRESENTATION OVERVIEW

The Physical Storyteller: Humour, Gravity & The Art of Weight Sharing

Deepening narrative craft through embodied practice, we’ll begin by interrogating the power of weight sharing and counterbalancing between partners as tools for authentic connection. Through precise physical exchanges, we will explore how giving and taking weight can forge profound emotional and physical bonds between partners, shaping narrative from physicality.

Building on this embodied dialogue, we’ll investigate the interplay of humour and gravity within physical storytelling, using dynamic contrasts to anchor both levity and depth in your work.

The session culminates in an applied exploration of Meyerhold’s fundamental principles of Biomechanics. We will drive intention and clarity into every action-distilling purpose, rhythm, and psychological depth into even the simplest movement.

What You’ll Explore:

  • Advanced techniques in weight sharing and counterbalance for narrative impact

  • Crafting layered, connective stories through physical partnership

  • Harnessing humour and gravity as dramaturgical devices in movement

  • Applying Meyerhold’s Biomechanics to infuse action with intention and clarity
